The original artists participating in "Artists of Derbyshire" met via a local art group - the Clowne Art Group.

Our website came about when several members of the art group decided to try to sell paintings this way. Clowne itself is a small town, and quite a long way from any major cities. Our annual exhibition has proved popular, but for some time now we have needed a more effective way to sell our work.

This selling website is completely separate from the group itself, and only three of its members participate. Christopher Atkinson is not a member of the group, and has joned separately.

Would you like to sell your work on this site? You'll get lots of targeted publicity, including promotion on the site blog, which is linked from the Derbyshire Times website, Twitter, and its own Face Book fan page. The website is also advertised in carefully selected local newspapers, magazines and websites.

Unlike most sites, your gallery will be created for you, and we'll phone you to let you know when anything sells and forward the proceeds to you by Pay Pal. You need only arrange delivery of the painting or other item.

Membership - yearly

£26 per 6 images. Please see joining information below.

Joining

1. Send three photographs of your paintings or craftwork to: info@artistsofderbyshire[dot]co[dot]uk.
We aim to respond within 24 hours to let you know whether you have been approved. Most people are, but please do not be offended if you are not. Let us know whether you want six images or more.

2. If approved, we will e-mail you to inform you. Included in this e-mail will be a Pay Pal button which you can click to pay for your membership. So that you can receive any funds from sale of your work, you need to create a new personal account at Pay Pal (link at bottom of page). This needs to be a separate account from any that you have for other purposes such as e-bay. Make a note of your passwords and the e-mail address you used for it.

3. We also need the following:

(a) your name, address, contact phone number and e-mail address relating to your Pay Pal account;
(b) dimensions, media and price of each item;
(c) state that you accept the terms of the site (below);
(d) three more images of your work, or more if appropriate, for your gallery;
(d) (optional) some information about yourself and your artwork. If you accept commissions, contact details you want shown (usually e-mail address). If you are not prepared to accept orders from abroad, please say so
.

Your gallery will then be created and your membership date begins when it goes live.

Terms and conditions for Artists and craftspeople

The site is for paintings, drawings and craft items.

You must only use AOD for lawful purposes and must not infringe any copyright in the work you sell.

You are responsible for arranging safe delivery of sold work to the customer. If anything is returned, you must check that it is undamaged before arranging a refund to the customer.

This site uses Pay Pal, a secure payment system. When a painting sells, the proceeds go into the AOD account, less 3.4% + 20p Pay Pal commission each time. The balance will then be forwarded to you. Pay Pal will accept payment in foreign currencies, but the commission charged is higher -see their website for up to date details.

Any information about you will be held in strictest confidence and not sold or used in research. Unless you want any details displayed on the site, your e-mail and other details will not be passed onto any third parties.

Arranging delivery

If sending by post, recorded delivery is recommended. All prices include delivery, so remember to allow for this when pricing your work. The selling price of items includes P&P for the UK - remember to allow for this and Pay Pal commission when pricing your work.
