After leaving work, I decided to treat myself and indulge my wish to study art at college where I learned the basics and gained the confidence to push the boundaries and experiment with techniques and media. I also undertook the challenge of starting up and helping to run a new local art group. This group still meets and I now manage to fit in three painting sessions every week. I have never tired of my painting hobby and find that I am still learning new and exciting ways to paint and express my feelings about a variety of subjects. My favourite subject is portraiture, closely followed by flower paintings and also animal paintings, but I willingly accept any new challenge to stretch my abilities (even if is not always successful).

Producing artwork is an excellent mode of relaxation and as a contrast - exhilarating, especially when a piece of artwork is looking the way I intended! I began painting by using watercolours as most beginners do, then moved on to experiment more with different qualities of acrylics and oils. I have never stuck to one particular medium, but rather use the one which I feel suits my subject best, for example oils for portraits because of their blending qualities, much needed for the delicate differences in skin tones.

My output of artwork does seem to be fairly prolific and I do hope that this website is successful in allowing all the artists involved to sell their work and make way for many more paintings to come in future.
